Question:

Why does America support Turkish-Cypriots?

They believe that the Annan plan was a great way to solve the problem and believe that they should carry on negotiating North Cyprus' way into independence etc. I think it is a disgrace as it completely limits the freedom of Greek-Cypriots in their OWN country. It is a fact that population-wise the Greek-Cypriots greatly outnumber the Turks!

  1. Some form of condominium would be the best start.

  2. Turkey is a major NATO player therefore USA/UK are going to support Turkie in every possible way - including EU membership.

In case you have not already heard, one of Turkies staunchest allies in the EU Membership stakes is Greece.

Sad to say that Turkie were beaten by Germany but as the German newspaper Bildt said, "The Turks ran the Germans dizzy" - you bet.

  3. And so starts another potential war.

Look, bud, I'm from Greece, I understand the politics behind this. What do you want to do? That's my answer. Either live together in peace or another war starts.

  4. bacause turkey has allowed the u.s. to use its country as a massive middle eastern base for operations and the u.s. doesnt want to sacrifice that.

the fact that turks and greeks are fighting over this island is because of ancient rivalries and land disputes which amaerica will never understand because as a counry it is too young, and it settled its own land disputes with mass genocide of natives- the systematic extermination of men women and children-was almost as bad as hitler and im sure that if the americans had the technology hitler did, they would have ensured that not a single native american would survive to pass on their genes.

  5. Do we feel obligated to take sides in another civil war?  Can we take a pass on this one?  We haven't settled the third war with Iran yet!
