Question:

Why does Apple do this?

I'm thinking about getting a new iPod (mine's now old and falling apart) and I was looking at the prices. How does this make sense:

4GB nano: $150

8GB nano: $200; $50 more than the 4GB

80GB classic: $250; $50 more than the 8GB!

How in the world does that make sense? Fifty dollars more on a nano and you get an extra 4GB but fifty after that gets you 72GB more? I don't get it!

  1. Your best bet would be to not buy an iPod at all.

Content is costly. syncromization as the pits as it wipes out your content if you try to get your friends files.

You would do better to purchase an MP4.

They deliver great picture quality, play almost any format, act like a flashdrive when you want to move files from one PC to another.

And too many other advantages to list here.

    d;o)

  2. 72GB more storage, but less miniaturization, less battery efficiency, and a storage mechanism that is less able to withstand shocks.

  3. hard drives are cheaper than compact flash memory (what nanos use) but they require MUCH more space.

The Nano and the classic appeal to different sectors, priced accordingly.

  4. Bigger ipod's use hard drives file the smaller ones use flash drives making more expensive to make the nanos.
