Why does Benitez rate Barry over Alonso?

Im not a liverpool fan but i believe they dont need barry at all, if anything a right winger

As a villa fan I can honestly say you will be very surprised by Gareth Barry. He is a class act and I am gutted to be losing him, especially in the underhand manner that Liverpool have gone about it.

I agree, i think barry is one of the most overrated players in the league, dont get me wrong he does everything ok but alonso is the best passer in the premier league without a doubt.

That's why we can't win the league because of decision's like this. David Silva would be the better choice for us. As it is we paid too much of Keane. You're right we don't need Barry.

I REALLY WANT THEM TO  BUY DAVID SILVA FROM VALENCIA. He would make the perfect addition. s***w Barry when they have alonso, mascherano, lucas, gerrarad. Hes a good player but theres no need. We need a right winger preferably Silva or Joaquin or Arshavin.

Yes, your couldn't be more right.  I think he wanted Barry because Alonso "lost" form, but he is playing excellent out there right now.  That 18+ Mil should be going towards someone like Silva.
