Why does Billy Mays yell in his commercials?

We all know who Billy Mays is, because hes the crazy guy screaming about a new cleaner every month.

Maybe he just really wants you to buy, what ever he's selling these days.

I can't stand to hear him .. I turn the channel.

Do you leave your television on while you sleep ?   ... it is awful to hear him in the wee hours .. omg.

His voice is so high-pitched.   I have wondered so many times how they think this sells the product -- because it drives me wild.

For the same reason the volume rises on your set when a commercial comes on- to get your attention.

You know, when he had hip surgery and was stuck at home, he listened to hundreds of his own commercials.  He said that if he saw or heard himself again, he was going to tear his own hair out.  :)
