When other retailers such as best buy and circut city (which arent cd specialty stores) as well as iTunes sell most cd's including new releases for around $9.99? I saw most cd's at FYE average $19.99 +

  1. Because most people these days just download music off the internet. This means that stores that are surviving off selling stuff that's free jack up the prices so that when people do buy stuff it makes up for their losses from the internet. The Sam Goody in my local mall just shut down. I'm pretty sure that's why. Stores like best buy sell stuff that can't be downloaded as well. Try downloading a refrigerator from a torrent. This is why best buy can charge 10 bucks. They're not living off CD sales.
