Why does California Have such open minded laws . [progressive] .?

The state has some of the most progressive laws on environment , Science education [allows teaching of human evolution in schools] and the weed laws ? Are there no Anti-Science clean environment hating alpha Christians In California ? Is the state's legislature filled with tie & dye wearing pot smoking god-hating hippies ?

You mean banning home schooling is progressive, taking away the responsibility of a parent to teach their children progressive?

The Legislature voting themselves 100% of their pay as their retirement.

Oh, and one of the biggest environmental agencies just took a HUGH payoff to allow drilling of the coast.

california, despite how much they "love themselves".... also have the weakest electrical power infrastructure...   overstretched municipal utilities, smog, sanctuary cities, budget deficits, and a myriad of other problems.

California is a great example of what happens when you allow the NUTS to run the NUT HOUSE.

Take away their sheer size.... per capita, California is a train wreck, yet all the "hippies" out at Berkley are too dumb to realize it.

People who criticize California inevitably live in states like Louisiana (who use the Napoleonic code - yes Napoleon the guy with his hand inside his shirt ) Arkansas or Kansas or some other smog free state. Different rules apply in big states like CA, NY and the east coast.

Your values are no more important then their values. If people in America pass legislation that outlaws schools, legalizes all drugs provides city paid hookers for city employees and delivers free pizza to any kid who wants it  Than those are American values and American morality. Your values are no better or worse then theirs.

Home schooling isn't illegal in CA. But I sorta feel like, based on the kids I know who have been home schooled it should be. They simply don't know how to function in society.and have enormous problems in college because they've never learned study habits or how to fit in at school.

California is in the process of becoming the Venezuela of the north.  Progressive reforms?  Maybe.  But in the meantime, their businesses (and productive people) are getting out as fast they can.
