  1. Cheney realizes, as you and many others apparently don't, that any actions that will significantly reduce CO2 emissions will have catastrophic effects on the economy.  He doesn't want that to happen.

  2. Probably due to his not establishing himself, yet so that he can make money on any upcoming project dealing with greenhouse emissions.

  3. I guess it's now just an ego thing.  He and Bush don't want to admit they were wrong.  Also, they will lose support from oil companies.

  4. In a February interview the vice president agreed that the earth is warming but, like President Bush and McBush, maintained there is debate over whether humans or natural cycles are the cause-- a position that puts the administration at odds with the vast majority of climate scientists.

Indeed, being one of the lucky people that has a searchable database of all scientific journals I have found that there have been exactly zero published peer reviewed scientific articles.

The problem with all of those articles is that you have to pay to read them. Meanwhile, petroleum company scientists like their kindred spirits the cigarette manufacturer scientists are quite willing to publish there work where it can be read freely without even the requirement to publish any research to support their position much less who paid for it.

This makes Mr Cheney's foolish rejection of the publishing of scientific facts in the only form where they would be available free from authoritative scientists paticularly aggregious.  Perhaps even worse than killing one million Iraqis for personal profit.

Those who think money is the motivating factor of the scientists that have research and peer reviewed articles to back their opinions should consider that climatologists are not in any discipline that could make any money from global warming.

  5. Goebbels would have been proud of Cheney
