Suck so much?

nah seriously, why does collingwood have sooo many games at the MCG? yeah i mean, every once in a while, they take a huge road trip to the telstra dome (even then, they have to get the oxygen masks out) but what's with that? it stands in favour for them so much, and is probably the reason why theyve been decent lately. if they played away from their homes, maybe itd show how good they really are.

well done crows on winning the showdown today. i think im in love with Ben Rutten...

  1. Can not tell you how many are at telstra dome but the other reason why they play so many MCG games is when they are not at home and playing another Melbourne team those teams chose their home games to be at the MCG because Collingwood is one of those teams that will always pull in big numbers through the gates and these teams can run of the gate profits because of it.

So I guess they are lucky on that score.

From a Hawks supporter not a Collingwood Fan.

  2. You sure it's really Collingwood and not their clones?

  3. Why do you think Interstate teams have so many games in their states,  because it is their home ground as MCG is Collingwood's.

  4. Because it's their home ground. They have 9 home games at the MCG (Adelaide have 12 home games at AAMI)

EDIT - Rebuttal - They have 2 home games at TD, but it's their second home ground, they only play there when the MCG is being used. eg Bulldogs have 8 home games at TD and one home game at the MCG. Crows have more home games at AAMI than Pies have at MCG :)

  5. Collingwood is awesome! and the MCG is their home ground duh! and its not their fault they have almost every match at the MCG, its whoever organises the matches.

  6. Collingwood sucks so much because the club is full of suckers!

Whining, whinging, complaining Mick the Mumbler even complained about having to travel to WA for a scratch match at pre season. He knew in advance that they would have to travel if they lost the previous weeks NAB game but that did not stop the whole club bitching their heads off.

  7. i dont think Collingwood suck, after there game today

  8. Well Um, maybe it's because it's their home ground?  I'll just leave you to your love affair...

Edit:  They played there today because it was a Richmond Home Game and coincidentally the MCG is Richmond's home ground too!!!

Edit: They have two games at the Telstra Dome, which is not because of their oppositions home game, it is because the MCG is preoccupied.

  9. most vic teams that go on the road dont go well anyway sour grapes i would think we collingwood love to be hated cheer's

  10. Simple answer is 98,002 people.  That's how many turned up at the prelim last year - so how many the G can fit in.  at $20 a pop, that's a little under $2 million.

Love em or hate em the Pies attract crowds and the G is a "fitting" home ground.  I think you'll see maybe 70,000 at the Dons clash & the Hawks, 90,000 at the Cats game, perhaps 60 for the Doggies.  No other stadium in Melbourne and only one other in the country can fit that number of people in.  Money doesn't talk - it sings!

  11. because there are a heap of morons in this world and the ones that dont support the crows go for collingwood so they need the mcg to fit them in and its the only place where eddie can fit his head thru the doorways!

  12. 2 words......EDDIE & MONEY!!!!

    Sorry Rogue!!!!

  13. Don't worry mate, it annoys us other Victorians too, it has been going on for season after season now, the AFL are greedy b******s, so its probably not really c'woods fault.

the thing that irritates footy fans(except c'wood) is they do not travel as much as other clubs, you SA, WA. qld, nsw, clubs do it more but are used to it. so it really doesn't effect you guys, so c'wood is advantaged over the Vic clubs, any one who says they aren't has their head up their cootamundra.

it will never be a level playing field until all clubs play each other twice, nick off the pre season c**p, and play each other twice, rotate players if they have to, but its the only fair way.

  14. geezus, this has been discussed over and over and I'm sick of people assuming that if Collingwood are playing at the MCG it's a home game.

We share the ground with what...4 other teams or something??

This weeks game against Richmond was an AWAY game for the Pies - it was played at Richmond's home ground.  If we played Adelaide AWAY, then we would have travelled to Adelaide...its not rocket science...

Dont blame us if we are the only team in AFL to get so many supporters at our games and therefore have our games scheduled at the MCG....pffft.
