Why does Congress meet with gas company execs, if they can't do anything?

AHHH but congress can do something. They can open up land to oil drilling and the building of new refineries and fast track some nuke power plant permits.

But alas plastic face polosi and dingy harry will not hear of that. We have to live in the dark because of the LIBTARTDS in congress.

They can do plenty, but all they think about is raise taxes on  big oil.  Why not get off their lazy butts and let's drill for our own oil and refine our own product?  Even if that got approved, the government would make some kind of agreement to send that crude off to Japan or somewhere so we could just keep buying the bulk of what we use.....Scratch my head, this country is definitely heading in the wrong direction!!

So the Congressmen can collect their payola in person. Watch the oil execs walk into the hearing room with briefcases but walk out empty-handed.

because they want the illusion that they are trying to fix the problem, when the fact of the matter is they are the problem they just dont want the american people to know it...oil companies make very little on selling gas they make there money on extruding oil and selling it the same way walmart makes there money bringing in products and selling them...if congress would open up more american territory to drilling that would alleviate at least 75% of the problem because supplies would be greater
