Question:

Why does Dunkin' Donuts get away with using margarine when you ask for butter?

I would think that it's illegal and false advertising. Then, I though that maybe the US has standards where only a certain percent of the mix needs to be actual butter? But it's still very decptive. You can have the butter onthe side, and it's real butter, but that's difficult when driving.

  1. Well, I really don't see how they are getting away with it. The right person, probably hasn't caught them yet. If somebody would turn them in then, yes they could get in trouble for false advertising.

Most people just let it go, because they have the idea in their minds that butter and margarine is the same exact thing.

    Hope this helps!

  2. There is no law saying they have to provide you with butter. I'll bet if you read the wording, it say something other than butter, like buttery spread. Regardless, you have no business driving and trying to butter anything. You want to kill someone because you are buttering your bagel?

  3. Most people just let it go, because they have the idea in their minds that butter and margarine is the same exact thing.

Moreover, no right person has caught them yet.

Once, they are being caught red-handed by a person

  4. The majority of places do not carry real butter as an option....most use margarine.  So when you ask for butter, this is what you get.  It's not deceptive or false advertising...most people refer to margarine as "butter".  I personally prefer the real thing, so I can appreciate where you're coming from.
