Why does ESPN televise the French Open on a tape delay?

It can be interesting live but I hate taped sports but why do they do it? Is it because the matches are played so early in the morning that most people would rather see it later? I believe the live broadcast starts at 6 AM EDT but when does it end? I won't get up that early but I would like to see some of the remaining matches live.

Because of the time difference. There's almost no chance of them showing live matches because by the time ESPN decides to show matches the live ones are over.

The Tennis Channel shows the matches live. Today it was live until past noon. It starts at 5AM though. I am hard core, so I set my alarm.
