Question:

Why does Ebay and Paypal not honor Seller Return polices?

I am an Ebay seller who recently had a dispute with a buyer over the condition of an item. Basically it boils down to him saying he did not think the item was new when I say it is. I had put a 3 day refund policy in my acution. I shipped the item the same day he paid on the 13th of August and he did not contact me until the 26th of august to complain that he did not think it was real. Long story short he files a Paypal claim against me and wins, has to return the item to me for his refund. Why are buyers allowed to violate the terms that I as a seller set forward in my auction? I offered receipts and proof of shipping to Paypal and they did not even care they just sided with the buyer immediately. I dont understand how buyers can hold and or use and item the won for 2 weeks then return it for refund whenever they want!!

  1. Do you know for sure on what date the buyer received the item. Sometimes shipping can take as long as 10 days or more to arrive. I would always recommend using Delivery Confirmation.

That being said, I don't know why it is just accepted that the buyer is always right in these circumstances. With all of the changes that ebay has put into effect recently, most of them do favor the buyer and not the seller. Some sellers have left ebay for that reason.
