Why does England use miles, but litres, Celsius etc.... are you metric or not?

Metric is far simpler... zero degrees is freezing point, 10 mm in a centre metre etc

We use a mish  mash of both. Don't know why though.

Metric is easier, but I don't understand miles, or why they are used.

I thought kilometres were used?

We are not metric. I'm in the U.S.

Born and raised here in the UK...48 years and still trying to answer that question, probably some top secret goverment super -plan to keep us all in a  permanent state of confusion !! :o)
