  1. just because a bias isn't explicit doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. women still make less than men on average for the same jobs. there are still many people who believe that "a woman's place is in the home".

i will concede that many feminists seem to want to elevate women at the expense of men, but i think thats absurd. women and men deserve equal rights, and until this goal is achieved there will always be feminists.

in other words... feminism still exists because sexism still exists.

  2. they are insecure

  3. judging by these answers um it still needs to

  4. The only reason feminism exist today is to obtain even more options for women with even less responsibility.

  5. Because now they want more rights than men instead of just equal rights.

  6. In the US Feminism exists as we have right-wing nutcases running the country trying to dismantle our right to birth control and abortion as well as limiting sexual education to the point that our teen birth rates have increased again.

In the US few women are represented politically by other women-regardless of the reasons-it sure looks unfair.

US women still make a lot less money and more live in poverty-regardless of the reasons-it still sucks.

Both US men and women suffer high rates of violence yet imprisoning more and more of our male population hasn't changed our violent culture. Feminists seem to be the only ones who seem concerned about rape of both men and women as well as the exploitation of young men and women.  For some reason -most US men laugh about male rape and sexual exploitation as though it was a joke.

Even though more men are the primary caretakers for their families and more women work outside the home than a number of decades ago-men are still treated like lepers if they primarily work inside the home and women are chastised for working outside the home and "abandoning" their children or are chastised for "only" caretaking their children and home. Not exactly a win-win situation and the result of societal sexism.

  7. There are still social injustices to women as well as men.  For this reason I think it is important that we focus on both men and women's rights rather than do the very thing we are trying to stop.  Picking sides only creates war, not equality.

While there are many hateful comments on here (as Princess mentioned) they are typically trolls.  I believe if we ignore them here they will realize we are not buying into there attention seeking.  These comments in the real world are another story.

  8. All depends, it seems America still has a lot of problems with gender, judging by all the misogynist comments on here it seems to be very bad!

In the UK we don't really have these gender problems anymore so feminism isn't needed.

  9. Seems like a place where man-haters can gather to give themselves something to do.

  10. It was necessary back in my mom's day, but it doesn't seem to serve a purpose now.  Granted, some women still don't make as much money as men for doing the same jobs, but unions and individuals can deal with that.

  11. because the bitter old ladies from the 60s and 70s are now all alone and sad and they want everyone to be as miserable as they are.
