Question:

Why does Filipino food taste so bad to me?

Please forgive the question but I've been going out with a Filipina and their is not one dish which I can say stands out as something which I can have again. There is not one dish, honest. I'm sure after posting this Filipinos are gonna reply with angry comments, but I don't mean it with bad intentions. When she would come to my house she would love our food and would not want to leave - I'm Peruvian - but honestly, I cannot stand her food. Even the desserts are not up to par. Does anyone else feel like this or can explain it? I can't be the only ones who feel like this. Or have I been spoiled by such great Peruvian food; yes this is a biased statement.

  1. Okay, I'm Filipino, and my best friend's American and he loves eating our food lol. But, I guess it just depends on what kind of food you like and what you're used to. Filipinos have quite a lot of salty foods, and some can be kind of weird (like dini-guan, pork in pork blood, eek). But, maybe trying a meal you had before one more time would taste better because you already know its flavor.

And know that to be open minded would really please your girlfriend.I'm pretty sure  there's still a lot of meals you haven't tried yet that are still good, and maybe your source of eating them weren't such great cooks (if it's your gf's parents, though, sorry lol). And it's probably yes, you're "spoiled by such great Peruvian food" that it takes some getting used to with other  foods. Try pancit (make sure it has good toppings), or those sweets from Goldilocks (there are plenty to choose from), just keep trying if you really would like to please your girlfriend. If you still don't find anything you like though...well, everyone has their own opinions and tastes, I guess.

    Good luck buddy! :p

  2. Well it's all up to personal taste. Like I don't like dark chocolate or bacon.

I'm Filipino, but I rarely eat the same stuff my family eats. I'm more of a, grab something out of the freezer and put it in the microwave sort of guy. So I guess we're both biased, but because we're used to different foods than Filipino food.
