Question:

Why does Galway have two mayors?

I just wonder if there is any need for a County Mayor as he/she never appears in an official capacity in any of the towns outside Galway City. I'd like to know what he actually does apart from being photographed!

  1. county  galway covers several towns (inlcuding galway city). the glaway city council (and its mayor) manages public services for the town(city) of galwa and the council is comprised and voted in by city dwellers. the county galway council (headed by the county mayor) manages towns NOT comprising galway city.

  2. Good question... I have no freakin idea

  3. holds down the excitement in eyre square?

haha sorry. probably one is city mayor and one is county since galway city is the main city in the county- in america, that's how it works- the largest city is the 'county seat' and they have their own mayor (most towns do, actually)....so one mayor oversees the county-wide issues and one deals with the city proper.
