  1. hes smarter than you think, hes up to something big.  within the next week hes going to announce something huge, when he does my advice is to get your money out of your bank quick!

  2. As above.

  3. There is no real opposition in domestic politics and a large proportion of the population have given up on politics. But the politicians know for a fact that if the British public were offered a vote on Europe it would be used as a an opportunity to express our frustration at all that is wrong in our politics not just the distrust of the EU machine.

With all three parties pro the EU, in effect, then defeat of anything is almost certainly guaranteed. Opposition parties know this so at least the Tories would break ranks in some way.

Further as an issue it has the ability to unite the Tories and Brown has enough nouse to realise that the Tories in disarray is his best route to power (as it was for Major).

  4. Voting for a government is easy.  You can have a load of capitalists led by a Scot, a load of capitalists led by a Scot or a load of capitalists led by a Scot.  If that's not enough choice, you can have a load of lunatics led by a Scot or a load of fascists (send 'em back) led by someone with a Lithuanian grandmother.  It doesn't actually make a lot of difference which one you vote for - the government always wins.

Voting about the EU is more complicated.  If we get it wrong, it could have a major bearing on whether we eat, drown or get taken over by the US.  Imagine the mess we'd be in if the cerebrally challenged Sun readers above actually got a chance to vote on it.

  5. Because he doesn't want us to vote on it, simple as that. For some reason he believes that the British people need to be forced into accepting it, wheras every other country in Europe is going to have a referendum on the subject.

As for WHY he doesn't want us to vote, it could be that he's fearful that it would be so resoundingly defeated that it may well increase euroscepticism - or that he believes the government know best as to what is good medicine, even if it's a bitter pill. Sounds like a nanny to me.

  6. 3 good answers above

  7. Because he knows that if it ever went to vote the British people would vote against the EU and Labour obviously do not want that. THAT is the reason they will not give the vote to the people on anything EU.

  8. you better listen to *goin nuts* he has hit it on the head. hold on to you wallet boys and girls . the beedy eyed greedy little weasel Gordon brown is up to no good. get ready to pay and salute a new flag

  9. Simple... Because he is a smug, head up his own **** tosser who should be deported to Guantanamo!

  10. im from texas but i answered anyway o_O

  11. Wrong way round. We were stupid to vote labour and wise enough to want to veto the EU move.
