Why does HD tv signals just make the picture smaller. makes having a large tv pointless , half my tv is notuse

correct format , its just the hd channels dvd blue ray is fine .

Need to adjust the format on the tv so it fills the screen...It must be in the 4.3 format

It looks like you have the TV in ZOOM Mode. Try 16:9 for Wide Screen, and 4:3 for regular screen width. And it is true, you need an HD source to see HDTV.
