Question:

Why does Hamilton think every race he wins is his 'best win yet!'?

He said it at Fuji, Melbourne, Monaco and now Silverstone as well. I've no doubt that his drive at Silverstone was a very good one, but does he have to say the same thing after every win?

  1. He obviously has the same balanced and refined view of his career as the British press.

  2. mentality purposes so he beleives he can do better

  3. Well before the season he said he wanted to win Australia, Monaco and Silverstone as the big three for him, so I'm sure when he does win those races they probably are his best win yet.

  4. sunday awesome drive

  5. Dan Dan, did you not see his car snaking all over the place from the start onwards?  Traction control?  Not on that car.  Get real.

  6. thats what all his fans want to hear -  that he is just getting better and better -

  7. nerves.

  8. That's what happenes when you have ITV comparing him to Senna

Mr Lewis Senna can walk on water

  9. because he has nothing to say except his best.

  10. He said it at fuji coz he done well and that was in the rain

melbourne coz it was the first race of the of the season

monaco coz it is his dream to win at monaco

and britain coz it is home race

i thought it would have been montreal 2007 as it was his first win

  11. just another way to show is HUGE ego

  12. You actually keep track of what he says? MAybe he just can't decide and after each win he feels it's the best because his tally of wins is increasing.

  13. Because he is an arrogant big head. He says now he was inspired by Senna. More likely by illegal traction control.

  14. Come on, this one was just a bit special wasn't it? Winning the race with such a great drive and the reaction of the crowd and all the other factors he's got every right to be pleased and rate it as his best race.

  15. He can't do much better than win.  Good for him!

  16. It's because with each race he is setting new standards. Each Hamilton race win has been the most skillful of any F1 driver in history. You cannot compare the old relics like the overrated arrogant Senna, or that smug lifeless automaton Schumacher to Hamilton. Hamilton is redefining what it means to be a racer, and in each race sets new standards for other drivers past and present to be judged against. Lewis Hamilton is simply the most naturally talented racer F1 has ever seen. And to all the Hamilton haters out there - no I'm not being sarcastic or joking. It's the truth: this kid is going to rewrite the F1 history books. Makes you proud once again to be British.

  17. because he likes the sound of praise coming from his own fat mouth!! now that's one narcissistic prick if I ever seen who probably adores his reflection in the mirror too!!

  18. Well, I think you've kind of answered your own question.

Winning at Fuji was quite an acheivement, and winning the first race of the season will always be special.  Any one who wins at Monaco will say it's their best to date, unless of course they've won their home GP.

I think the 4 wins you talk about were his best wins to date...

  19. It's the same reason all NASCAR drivers start their comments with "I mean" when they haven't made a statement to clarify. It's maddening.

  20. it was pissing down at fuji and he drove very well, so at the time it was his best then melbourne got him off to the best possible start of a season so it was getting better, then to monaco where its the track that all the great drivers win, then on sunday it was very tricky and in front of his home crowd. i dont think there are going to be many other races where he will be saying it again unless its raining heavily and he has to fend off the ferraris for the entire race, then he can claim his best win ever.

but he was awesome at silverstone

  21. I think Snoopy is on the right track: he said before the season that he he wanted to win the first race, Monaco and the British GP and he has accomplished each of these.

The other factor is marketing.  While we all know that F1 depends on sponsorship, we may not all understand the way that one maximizes sponsor value: one tactic is to make comments that dramatize the events of a race since broadcasters love to air these because Joe Public hates to miss exciting events.  Making dramatic comments therefore get him and McLaren's sponsors more coverage.

  22. Wouldnt u say the same if u won a race against the other best racers in the world. I would.
