Consider that primary elections normally have lower turn out than a general election and that the total of all primary voters is basically cut in half because it's a partisan vote rather than everyone voting on the same ballot.

In the 2004 election, there were about 120 million votes cast for President. 18 million would be about 15% of that number. If you were to cut that total in half for just partisan votes, that 18 million would become about 30%. And if you consider that less people vote in the primaries, that 18% could easily come close to 50% of all the votes cast in the Democratic primaries.

It sounds like a big number.  That is why she talks a lot about that.  She also is hanging on to leverage.  However I don't think she'll talk much about her 18 million votes...at least not much because now she's endorsing Obama.  She's run a strong campaign and is a very smart woman, but I really hope she stops the attacks and the discussion of "18 million votes"- they count but she doesn't need to keep bringing the issue up b/c it can divide the party.
