  1. because they love orange

  2. It's the national colour, the Oranje. It derives from their royal family, who's colour was orange.

That's why even though there's no orange on the flag, Holland's colour is orange. It's also why Afrikaans in South Africa is represented quite a lot by orange!

The first answer's the best one, give it the best answer!

  3. I don't think there is a main reason. The 'International' badge of the Netherlands is primarily made of Orange. It may be associated with the history of the badge being Orange, or that orange is made up on their national flag."

It is more likely to be linked to the history of the Dutch Royal House, which has been known as the House of Orange since the 15th Century.

  4. royal family

  5. Orange is the color of the Dutch Royal Family. The lineage of the current dynasty -- the House of Oranje-Nassau -- dates back to Willem van Oranje (William of Orange). But while the color orange has royal roots in the Netherlands, today it symbolizes a broader pride in the country and in being Dutch.

Perhaps the biggest display of orange national pride occurs on Koninginnedag ("Queen's Day"), the April 30 holiday commemorating the birthday the country's (former) Queen. You'll be hard-pressed to find a Dutch person who's not sporting the color on this day.
