  1. Nope.

  2. There are so many Suzuki in Japan, but that is not the reason Ichiro has his first name on his jersey.

Ichiro wanted to do something which other players are not doing. Most of players have their last name on their jerseys so Ichiro has decided to put his first name instead of last name on his jersey.

It is not prohibited to put a first name on a jersey so that Chipper Jones can have his first name on his jersey if he wishes.

  3. I've always wondered the same thing. I once heard that back in japan Suzuki is such a common last name that he used Ichiro on his uniform. Is it then ok for Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones or Randy Johnson to use their first name on their uniform? since jones and johnson are very common names here in America. Or what about Adrian Gonzales, Luis Gonzales, Alex Rodriguez or Ivan Rodriguez to use their first name? Since Rodriguez and Gonzalez are such common Latin last names
