Why does Jamaica import so many items from Trinidad?

and export so little? What causes this and what steps be taken to correct this?

Trinidad has cheap oil. They therefore can manufacture things cheaper than us. This is a fact that is not likely to change. Even if we came up with certain products and sought to have them manufactured for international distribution, it would still make more sense for us to manufacture the goods in trinidad and send them to third party countries.

The only thing that can change this would be NUCLEAR or some other form of power, cheap enough and in enough quantities to be used competitively in manufacturing.
