He wasn't tortured and his captors nicknamed him "The Prince".

Better question is why did McCain's dad who was an Admiral in the Navy and commanded the Pacific leave him and not rescue his son?

  1. You're pretty cold, Joe. Correct, but cold.  ;)

  2. Oh God I know...

It's starting to make me doubt the validity of the claim in the first place...

It's that Blonde lady on his Camp. staff... she won't shut up about it... ever...

And if you notice, she always says "prisoner of war" as part of her reply to questions about his gaffes... like saying "leave him alone, you big unamerican meanie!"

It's his little version of Rudy Guiliani's "9/11"....

  3. I don't believe that its simply that he was a POW, its the circumstances that he was under. He refused to leave and let his men remain behind.

That makes him a hero, risking death to not abandon his men.

    What have you ever done?

  4. Why does Osama bin dumba keep bringing up that he is a patriot. the more someone tells you something is so, the less chance you can believe it. Oh and least I forget, thanks hillary for having a crony of yours sue obama for his not being qualified for the presidency.

  5. Even us liberals won't call McCain on his war record. He was shot down and held as a POW for several years. He was tortured to some extent.

And as for a rescue, the US did try several times to rescue POWs, at a loss of many more men and a lot of equipment. However, the North Viet Namese are not stupid and they did a really good job in building their POW camps. An effective rescue would have required a full scale invasion of the north at the risk of full war with the USSR, which would have gone nuclear.

  6. If he wasn't tortured, why is his jaw so messed up?  If he wasn't tortured, why was he like the only republican I heard of who was against waterboarding?

  7. First off that was the defining moment in his life. He could of been released as an courtesy to his father, but he decided to to stay and not be made a propaganda subject.

  8. He thinks Americans are more likely to vote for a war hero, though many of his fellow POW's won't vote for him because they believe he cooperated with the enemy against America. They call him "Songbird", for that reason.

The "hero" image is all that McCain really has, and he's been promoting himself as that ever since he entered politics.

  9. you must still be in high school

  10. Conservatives keep bringing up war hero but that does not really qualify one to be the president does it?  People should be going over his voting record with a fine tooth comb to see how he voted or did not vote for the things that matter to them.  There were a lot of war heroes out there, but they are not bringing it up every time you turn around.  I want someone who is thinking clearly on subjects not someone who brings up I was a war hero every time they make a mistake.  That may sound cold but that should be people's priority.

  11. Because he was, and thats something you should recpect.
