I thought he and his fans loved dale sr. I am losing respect for Jr. Dale Sr is a great shadow to be apart of and I cant believe some of my fellow Jr fans think he should be his own man. Arent we cheering for him because of how his dad drove anyway? I want him to drive like his dad and Im sure you do to

  1. Most Jr fans are bandwagoners who cheer for him because of his dad. When you ask they say hes down to earth which is code for "because of his dad"

  2. You seem to have an odd way of looking at things...  It confuses me and makes my brain hurt.

  3. So what your saying is, you would want to be in the shadow of somebody and not be your own light???? I am glad Jr. is taking a stand and saying that he is who he is and not who "you" want me to be.

  4. Everyone expects him to be able to carry the torch....Hey,his dad is gone and no-one will ever replace him...Even jr knows that...He just wants to be his own man!

  5. How would you feel if you were compared to your dad all your life. It has to be hard. I don't cheer for him because of how his dad drove. I cheer for him because of how he drives.

  6. i wish hed drive like his dad but he is his own man he cant follow in srs footsteps what do u expect u cant blame any driver that is a legends son  and no im not cheering for him cuz his dad i dont care for his dad as much.

  7. wrong my daughter alexis and my wife like him because how he drives they did not know dale sr very well

  8. Many ways he is like his father and some things of his father he does not want to be like. He has grown into a fine young man who can get the job done now he is with a good team and he has a good father figure in Rick Hendricks so I say go for it Dale Jr.

  9. How will you feel after your father dies?

Maybe it's a little too complex for you to understand.

I know the feeling and I understand.

    Inexperienced folk harbor hurt feelings.

Read between the lines and someday maybe your own experience will guide you. But first you must accumulate that experience. Basically my answer to your question is a one word answer. Feelings or emotions. The fact is you don't really know what Juniors objectives are. Your question is just based on speculation, of your own interpretation. I think your being a little too critical.

  10. you are trying to provoke people.  it is people like you that give racers a bad name.

    have a nice day.

  11. I am a fan of Dale's. Period. It has nothing to do about who his dad was. No hidden passwords or cultish codes like some think. Maybe some pull for him because of who his dad was, that's their business. I was an Elliott fan for a very long time! And had a huge amount of respect for Dale Sr. He taught his kids to stand alone without him and they have. It is us and the media that always try and push them back into the shadow. Kerry, Kelly and Jr. Just like Kyle Petty, Micheal Waltrip, The Wallace clan, The Burtons, Bodines, Buschs. We always compare each with the other. We forget they are their own person.

Jr's desire to get out from behind his dads shadow is his deal, we can only speculate. That shadow is so huge in this sport but perhaps Dale would like credit for his accomplishments and is tired of those that believe it was all but given to him because of his name when we that know how to read and listen know that is not true....

  12. i dont cherr for him for because of his dad he is his own man

  13. after he wins the championship then you'll see him drive

  14. Because he wants to leave his own mark on the history books of stock car racing. He doesn't want to be remembered as just his father's son. I don't think he will ever totally escape that shadow, but he doesn't hide in it either.

  15. He is his own man and wants to be known for what he does not what his dad did.

Do you want to be just like your dad?  Its 1 thing to respect your dad its another to be exactly like your dad and be reminded constantly that you are not exactly like your dad.

  16. cause he is not himself if he is in his dad's shadow.

If you look at the NFL, two great quartbacks, Joe Mantana and Steve Young. Steve was in Joe's shadow for years, and he hated that. It took until Super Bowl 30 (i am pretty sure) Steve casting Joe's shadow off. At the end of the game, Steve jokingly told his team mates to get this dang monkey of his back.

Some thing for Jr. He want to be known for his driving and not for his father's stile.

  17. Out of everything Dale Sr taught his son, don't you think that one of the most important lessons he taught him was not be afraid to be his own man? By choosing not to be a red-headed carbon copy of his father, Dale Jr is honoring him more than he ever could than if he tried to mimick him for the rest of his life.

And besides, with a shadow as big as the Intimidator's, Dale Jr has a hard enough time getting out from under it without people like you trying to keep him in it.

  18. Would you want to be remembered as your father's son or for your own accomplishments in life?

  19. Junior never wanted to be like his dad.  He is his own man.  I wish he would drive more aggressive at times, but that is it.  He is well respected by the other drivers
