Why does McCain feel he needs to pander to the woman vote?

The McCain camp openly says that part of the reason for choosing Palin was to capture disgruntled Clinton supporters from Obama.

Why Does McCain need to choose a candidate based on gender instead of one based on ability. It is obvious that Pailn would not even have been considered if it were not for the battle between Hillary and Obama.

Why can't McCain win on his policies rather than pandering to the women vote?

Pandering is the name of the game, baby.  Haven't you watched your own candidate, Obama, pandering, and sucking up to  everyone possible.  The Jews.. the unions.. the farm communities.. the  italians.. give me a break.. he is the  biggest suck up since the octopus.

Don't be calling names when you have someone who is so  imperfect himself.  You may think him a ?God.. bu tthe rest of us see only a man.. and one with a pretty bad background at that.

It is making me laugh tho.. you Democrats and sheep must be really concerned for all the whining you are doing.  Did you think McCain would just lay down and die because Obama built himself a shrine.  Don;'t be stupid!

I don't know. It's a gamble. To me, the risks out weight the gains by a long shot. Who is this person? I thought we weren't supposed to vote for Obama because he had no experience, now you nominate someone with less elected office experience before. I bet Palin doesn't even know what McCain is about... did they even meet before today? It doesn't seem that way. Reminds me of the Chinese and their Olympic ceremony, it's all a facade.   For the same reasons Obama HAD to select a VP to offset HIS lack of experience.  At least McCain will run the Presidency and Palin will "learn" the job, rather than the backwards, Biden run the Government while Obama gets his "on the job training" to ACT like a POTUS.

omg you guys are sad. Its not the ONLY reason. You really think he would risk the presidency just to get the female vote? She has more experience than Obama. She is the only governor up there. She does capture some of the female vote but you need to give woman credit. They aren't a monolith. They vote based on issues etc just like men do. It was a great and bold move by McCain and I give him credit for it. I hope it works out well.
