i really never use the browser because it's not up to par with Firefox or Opera, but everytime I try to delete it, I get a warning message telling me that i some vital applications/programs might not work

Is this part of the MS monopoly strategy?

  1. A little bit,  they built other programs that are part of the OS to use features that are found in IE.  So instead of re-writing them and having two copys that just have the one copy that is in IE.  Its a pan, but just don't use it.  There are plenty of other files on your system that Microsoft put on there, that you already don't know about.

  2. They don't - you can remove IE.

  3. IE IS PART OF THE WINDOWS CORE INTERFACE.IT CANNOT BE DELETED AS MANY BROWSERS INCLUDING FIREFOX ALSO NEED THE IE CORE PROPERTIES TO RUN.SORRY.

  4. You can delete it. It just says that because you have some shortcuts that default open with them. Once you delete it and install FireFox, change FF to ur default web browser (it will give you that option once u start FF) and everything will be fine.
