Why does NASCAR allow the field fillers to enter the races when they plan to run a few laps and then park the car? I notice in the Nationwide Series after about 10 laps their are at least 6 cars out of the race. Why is this allowed? I mean it doesn't seem like a true 43 car field when you have guys quitting after a lap or two. If NASCAR had a rule that you had to try to run the entire race and not quit for no real reason how many cars would show up for the Nationwide Series races?

  1. Well, NASCAR wants the full field of cars. And to be honest, it doesn't make much sense for these back markers to even travel to the races with the high price of gas, cost of equipment and pay of the crew. They spend more than they'll make by far, which 43rd place probably pays around 5,000$.  I think mainly these guys just want someone to notice them, and fund their team.

  2. They do this to let to let some small teams go in, and can't afford ANYTHING, and they don't know how to tune the car, and just take it out because If they Crash, there whole year is over, and anyways, at least they can say, " I raced in a NASCAR race!"

  3. but they still qualified in

  4. They all pay an entrance fee to race. I do agree with you. Of course, if NASCAR didn't, they wouldn't have enough cars to hold a race.

  5. They run because you never know what's going to happen in a race, and just maybe someday the end of the rainbow will be shining down on them! Though they don't just pull off the track for nothing, mechanical issues, or wrecks take them out of the races!

  6. The all have the intention of running the entire race. NASCAR has a rule that prevents lesser funded teams from being able to. The rule is that the car must make the minimum speed during the race. If, for some reason, a car has engine or other woes in the first laps of a race and the team is not funded where they can fix the car well enough for that, they have to park the car. Morgan Sheppard is a prime example of this. He funds his own team out of his own pocket and he makes most of the races he enters but I don't remember a race he has "finished" ever.

  7. He's just like his dad." never was never will be"
