Why does Obama have such a low net worth?

For a successful lawyer who went to Harvard Law school and graduated as magna *** laude, a net worth of $799,000 is ridiculously low.

Obama has spent much of his time in public service, which doesn't pay well. Much of his money comes from the best-selling book and his wife's six-figure income.

But let's put it this way -- if he had decided to go into business, there is absolutely no doubt that he'd be a rich(er) man today.

besides you could argue that the lions share of his legal work has been in public service. Not exactlt lucrative work
