Why does Obama talk about the "Black Community" and not America as a whole?

I want a President who will speak for all Americans and not group us up by race.

He talks about the black community because it's what he is. He's an African American man. People divide themselves on race.

last i heard the black community was mad at him for not acting like al sharpton obama is no malcom x hes came from a poor family and made it to be a very sucsesfull man he knows what need to be done he knows theres no white guy out there with a whip running all the black people back into the ghetto

I would like that as well. Also, I'd like to be represented as an American by another American.  Once they are elected, they are representing us all. Drop the party c**p and do the job they are elected for!

It is political expediency.  He wants to reach the minorities and get their vote.  He probably realizes that much of middle class America is not likely to vote for him.  

As for being divisive, that seems to be the nature of politics; so good luck on that.  You know, divide and conquer.  I think the one candidate I have seen that managed to unify was Reagan.  Don't get me wrong--the left wingers hated him and the press constantly looked for ways to submarine him, but I think he tried to appeal directly to the American people and it seemed to have worked.

I never heard him talk about anything except there does not need to be 'two' different Americas.  Don't be afraid, he'll be a great President whether he's an African-American one or not.  You need to evolve and come out of that cave.  Did you know that we discovered fire now?  Is that all you Republicans can come up with is race?  If so, you've lost this election for real.  LOL!
