  1. Because it is based on the Occult, and the Occult is real, unfortunately.

Parapsychology deals with the investigation of "ghosts", telepathy, psychokinetics, etc. These are all based in the Occult. What it really is is demonic activity.

The Bible says that when people die, they do not "float around" as ghosts, but rather remain in a state of "sleep" (dead in the grave with no consciousness of anything) until Christ returns, at which time the saved of those will be resurrected.

So if that's the case, then who or what are these beings that people perceive as "ghosts" and appear to communicate with?  "They are the spirits of demons, working miracles."  Revelation 16:4.

Parapsychology does deal with things that are "real", but they are not of God. They are satanic.

  2. Someone wanted answers.

  3. Parapsychology is the study of paranormal activity as it relates to the mind. It is the study of psi-related events, such as psychokinesis, telepathy, etc., and many thousands of tests later it's been ridiculed and criticized for being unscientific in spite of the overwhelming evidence that humans can have a slight influence on chance. It is precisely because of this evidence that the claims exist that there's something wrong with the tests.

Parapsychology exists because people wanted to figure out what was happening, and why it was that some people seemed to be able to influence chance, communicate without speech, move objects, etc., while most people couldn't. Quantum physics now has a theory called "quantum navigation" which seems to be able to account for such things by showing our ability to see a wide number of possibilities and consider likelihoods.

There are lots of ideas about how these things are supposed to work, but basically, parapsychology exists because people want to see why it should or shouldn't work that way--or even if it could work that way.

In the words of a parapsychology friend of mine: "it's more psychology than 'para'."

  4. Parapsychology exists to, basically, find scientific or "natural" explanations for what is believed to be paranormal happenings. For example, if a door opened by itself, they might rule that there was possible a draft or someone behind the door. If they cannot find a natural explanation, they simple say it's "unknown".

  5. The area of study without absolutes had to be called something.

  6. Because of.............money.

Con-artist are pretty sophisticated now adays

  7. i think they exist because they should exist. i know t sounds pretty lame, but it exists because it is a part of science, to help paranormal and weird stuff believers and for people who seek help and answers for weird and needy questions.

  8. String Theory holds that there are more dimensions.  This seems to agree with what at least a few intuitives have said, and could explain at least some paraphysical phenomena.

  9. To annoy skeptics and sell books, films and websites to people who need to believe in it. To enable 'psychics' to prey on the vulnerable. Some guy has a £100, 000 prize for the first person to prove parapsychology exists by testing it. Nobody has won it.

I'm a conflicted skeptic. I grew up in a 'haunted' house but don't really believe in parapsychology

  10. As  a field of study or a branch of Science it virtually doesn't.Not in any legitimate sense. Not any more anyway,It's basically a hobby for all but a very few that can make a living at it.Many of whom are unsavory con-artists and fakes. They, much more then skeptics are the ones clouding the issues
