  1. Because, unlike you he has class.

  2. Well when he is wearing his kilt, if he is a true Highlander, he would not have any knickers on, to get in a twist! The truth is we are still suffering from the ugly post modern architecture developed after WW2 when we needed to erect many public and office buildings quickly, usually involving the increased use of concrete. We have become culturally addicted to concrete, while the honourable trade of stonemason has been relegated to quaintness.

Read "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett.

Look up facts on "Lafarge Cement".

  3. See all of the above answers for a correct response...and a round of applause for the Prince of Wales and his dedication to preserve the architecture (and other things) of the UK.

    best of luck to you!

  4. Because some of them are plain hideous.  Look at some of the historical buildings in the UK, places like Durham Cathedral, which have stood the test of time, the work that went into the architecture, the stonework, the windows, and now look at the geometrical atrocities that pop up all over the place, no character,  all straight lines and built to a tight budget.  In the same way new houses are erected in ten minutes flat and then the new owners find all sorts of problems occurring which really only demonstrate they were built using cheap materials, and will probably be demolished before Prince William ever becomes King.

We have a beautiful country, it's a shame to see some of these lifeless dreary buildings that appear in old market place towns and completely destroy the ethos and spirit

  5. To preserve heritage. Where I live they tear down and put up townhouses. Look like rabbit hutches. Nothing is left for posterity. Boils down to the buck.

  6. He feels he has a duty to posterity. The Elizabethan period left an unique architectural heritage as also did Regency & Georgian  periods.  The Baronial style is magnifecent especially in Scotland.  :'twas the landed wealthy aristocrocy who had the funding for such grandeur. If the present fast buck culture were allowed to "fester" , pustulent caribunckleism would be the "heritage"

  7. Have you ever walked towards a building and the d**n thing is so ugly you can't even figure out where the entrance is?  Well I have!  If you can't even find the door to the public library that was built with public money then that's a problem.  And it happened in my city.  It's no good having a country with buildings that are hundreds of years old and then someone builds a rectangular monstrosity completely out of context right next to it.  Prince Charles is just in a good position to squawk about it.  Good for him!

  8. Eden you are right

some of theses building are just filing cabinets, rudely staring us in the face
