Buy tickets from Ryanair, 2 flights £29.99, 2 flights £39.99. Total £139.96 - Final cost £270. £12.75 for mastercard.

Buy Atlas insurance, £10.04 - Final cost £10.04 No charge for mastercard.

Why the difference

  1. Because that is the fee that is charged to them by mastercard.  The Atlas insurance has the fee built in to their charge.  Ryanair could do this as well but they have more non credit card transactions than the insurance company and want to pass the savings on to people who don't use a credit card, instead of just adding 13 pounds to everyones bill.
