Why does SUBWAY stink when you walk into their one of their locations??

They just seem to stink up the place when you enter into one of their establishments. Is it just me? Quiznos does not stink when you go in there.

I used to work at Subway and they bake their breads right up front purposely to fill the dining area with the "fresh baked" smell of bread.

Most likely the smell you are apposed to is the yeast. You may be more sensitive than others to this smell if you have a high yeast level already present in your body.

Another thought to consider is that the smell of baking bread is often, for some people, a pleasant "memory smell". On the other hand, if you associate the smell of baking bread to an unpleasant time, person or experience in your life, the memory may have the opposite affect on you triggering an unpleasant reaction to the smell.

Mine dont, well, its a subway and a gas station.....so, idk, might just be lazy workers that dont clean. i wouldnt eat there

You know, I found it stinky too, they told me it is from the meatballs and marinara sauce mixing.  The smell of their bread usually masks the smells unless their bread was made earlier.

Maybe its just your Subway, all the ones Ive ever been to smell like Subway should, maybe yours is dirty, try a new place or stick with Quiznos.

ha i totally agree. i've been to a a couple of subways and all of them usually smell like sweare (sp?) right before walking in. i have nooo idea on why it smells so bad but i agree with you on them being smelly

You are definitely right.  Everytime I go into one, I notice a wierd smell as soon as I walk in the door.  The worst smelling one was in the Bahamas.  I refused to eat anything because of the smell.  Ignore the other answers, Subway really does have a smell when you walk in!

i live in australia and every subway over here has a rather pleasant smell! it is a personal opinion, but when i went overseas, i walked into a subway and i didnt really like the smell =| it might be the quality of ingredients used, but i dont know entirely
