Why does Sagittarius sound like an air sign and Scorpio sound like a fire sign?

I just finished reading "Linda Goodman's sun signs" .I also browsed through several astrological websites.

All the websites and Linda's book describe Sagittarius as Intellectual,jovial,communicative/talkat... and laid back.This is the exact definition of air signs.They are also detached and aloof just like air signs.The bravery of Sagittarius makes it sound like fire though.To me Sagittarius sounds like an air sign with so much of guts.

Scorpio is a water sign.But unlike other water signs they are very bold and confident.They are also creative which is the definition of fire signs.Scorpios aren't gentle or whiny like cancer and Pisces.They are as brave as fire signs.

well astrology was discovered a long time ago, and it is high time the profiles are updated a little

-scorpio is stronger, feistier, fierier, than they are marketed.

-sag thinks more than the market lets on

-gemini is not as clever as portrayed (but they do have an amazing way with words, no one can beat a gem in thinking up words/giving quality speeches on the spot without preparation)

-aquarius is more emotional than is let on

-pisces is a bigger softy than is let on, or maybe it's b/c society is becoming more insensitive as a collective

-cappy is stupider than it looks/comes off (an idiot cap in charge is trouble, think mao-tse-tung, but most of them are bigger idiots than we realize.  don't let their polos/dress fool you.  some of them are the most barbaric of apes disguised as humans--and this comment will probably please them LOL)

^with all these cases, it not all, but a greater majority of those falling under these signs are exhibiting such qualities

pisces: is very similar to sagattrius but "go-with-the-flow" type who want to lay on  me, AND who are  a giver person of love and emotion.

sagattrius: they are the orginal type of open and big "clean" hearted Dreamy women similar to piscses with emotions and love BUT they are advanced VERSION that has  a "Backbone", which means they cant lay on you, they are independent.

Aquarius girl: similar to sagattrius but the "evil version"

I think it also depends on a full chart to help explain why some people with certain signs exhibit certain qualities....you have to also remember the positive and negative aspects as well....

For example a fiery Sag could also act more like a different element sign if they exhibit more of their negative qualities rather than positive ones...they (Sag) were not intended to be at a stand still or lazy or even often fall into depression....though they can...which is the negative aspects of their sign...and so on....

Also a typical Sag is not usually considered to be very family oriented in terms of staying close to the home the majority of their time...but with (for example) a Scorpio Moon...this changes that aspect....

I have to disagree with you. I know a lot of Scorpio's and I'm a Sagittarius myself. I'm in no way aloof or detached like an aquarius. Neither are any of the other Sagittarius I personally know. Your making a broad statement here. You need to keep one thing in mind. Everyone of us has a natal chart with other signs in our planets. So if you come across a Sagittarius that happens to be aloof and detached then obviously this person may have Aquarius in their chart somewhere or an Air sign in general. The same thing goes for Scorpio. Perhaps these Scorpio's your talking about have a lot of fire in their chart. I know plenty of Scorpio's that are whiny and gentle. Not every person that is a fire sign in brave. Were more than just our sun signs. Your facts are based on the people you personally have come into contact with. You can't speak for everyone else. Sorry to be so blunt but it's just my opinion

I dont think Sagittarius is much of a fire sign either, they seem more flighty and not grouded like Aries and Leo.

Here's a theory. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Cancer: water sign. Very set in its ways, fits Earth sign.

Scorpio: water sign. Very feisty and dangerous. Active, fits Fire sign.

Pisces: water sign. Very flighty, flakey, fits Air sign.

Try and suit the remaining elements to all the signs of one element and see if you find a pattern.

Oh yeah, the descriptions of the signs above were only generalisations for illustration purposes. I don't want Pisces telling me they're not flakey :)
