Why does Scotland want Independence?

Question

Do you Scots really hate us English that much, that you want Independence from us? Was it something we did or said?

I also ask the same question to the people of Wales seeking independence. I'm of mainly Welsh descent myself so I'm not biased or anything, but seriously, do you really find independence necessary?

Probably for the same reason America did, self determination.

I've offen wondered why the english they need to control other nations.

I think that Scotland, Wales, and the Cornish deserve thier independence. Also Ireland should be re-united.

Its a lot of reasons. Firstly they basically are a spearate country except in tax and military a lot like the relationship between hong kong and china.

Secondly the population of scotland is 5m compared to englands 50m yet they get the same amount of money for infrastructure, NHS, defence etc. If they become independant then they control the oil fields in the north so that would increase their standards of living considerably, just like what happened to Norway.

No the Scots don't hate the English, you do get some but they are generally the narrow minded ones who are uneducated. In fact 2/3 scots say they don't want independance but that is not saying that 1/3 scots hate english.

The fact that you find it so baffling that a country would want to be independent of you is a big reason why no one wants to be a part of your country.

Everybody is clamoring for independence lately. I hardly think that it remains the answer to the worlds' problems. On the other hand, what the h**l have you got to loose? This alone should give you pause.

Oh boy...I'm not Scottish or English...but have you ever studied history?  You need to study some Scottish history and you'll see why the Scots want independence.
