Any Olympian who wins a Gold medal gets a lot of attention.Plus,if you're in the US you'll be seeing a lot more of the US athletes than from any other country.Nastia gets attention too.

Liukin is a Soviet desendent, so that will surely be held against her, at least somewhat.

Who cares anyway. Both are exceptional gymnasts. That is all that matters.

The other gymnists aren't talented in ventriloquism like Shawn. Who else can smile real big and talk in a squeaky voice without moving their lips? That girl is truly talented in so many ways. And she's cute as a button. I'd take her over a furry little bunny rabbit or guinea pig any day.

Liukin was definitely the better gymnast in Beijing, but NBC was already committed to a bunch of stuff highlighting Johnson as THE face of USA gymnastics.  They looked a little stupid when things played out the way they did, but oh well.
