Why does South Ossetia want to leave Georgia and be part of Russia?

They are ethnically Russian, were once abusive to ethnic Georgians when Russians were the power, and so fear being the under dog.  The same was true of Germans in the Sudetenland in the 1920s-1930s before Putin (err, I mean Hitler) used this as an excuse to invade all of Czechoslovakia after being allowed to occupy the Sudetenland in the Munich agreement.

Mainly because Ossetia is divided into two parts and they want to join their brothers in the north, so all of Ossetia can be in Russia again.

1. Because the half of Ossetia is already in Russia - Northern Ossetia is a Russian republic.

2. Because Georgian forces already were in Ossetia in 1920 and 1991 and were really cruel. In 1991 georgian president said that they need "Ossetia without Ossetians". Now Ossetians think that only Russia can protect them.

The South Ossetians never wanted to leave the Soviet Union and be part of Georgia in the first place. They are much closer ethnically to their friends and relatives in North Ossestia, which is part of Russia.  What a mess, I'm blogging about it:

Because the residents of South Ossetia fought a battle with Georgia 15 years ago that ended in a truce.  This truce made Georgia acknowledge that South Ossetia is an autonomous region.  

I am not so sure these people want to be part of Russia, as much as not part of Georgia.
