Why does Star Wars go 4, 5, 6, then it goes I, 2, 3 ??

Question

why is it backwards? should it be 1,2,3,4,5,and then 6. instead of 4,5,6, then 1,2,3. ???? i have never understood this. i need a real good answer.

He had certain ideas for 4-6 and 1-3

for 4-6 he knew it would take less work to make them.

for 1-3 he needed better technology and ability.

he put off 1-3 in hopes some day they would be made how he imagined them,

the first movie wich is the 4th was made in the 70,s wasnt really supposed to be 4th or was it expected to do good, but it did so a sequel was made.and from that sequel then came the final movie wich ended it all But after new advances on technology were made like cgi george lucas remastered the old movies and somehow brilliantly came up with the new 3 prequels so u can really get a look at ho darth vader came to be. thus making the old movies 4th 5th and 6th

They made 4,5 & 6 first cause they didn't need the high tech effects to tell the story. Whereas 1,2 and 3 needed them. the full 6 movies had been written before the first movie was ever made. George Lucas was always going to make them all just not in the right order

george lucas created 4, 5, and 6 as the star wars trilogy. it wasn't until 1, 2 and 3 came out where the first three called 4, 5 and 6. 1, 2 and 3 tell the story of what led to 4, 5 and 6. i hope that helps.

Because George Lucas is getting old. He forgot how to count for a while and nobody said anything to him about it.

From the time he made Star Wars in 1977, he always wanted to make nine movies in three trilogies.  The 77 Star Wars was Episode 4 of the Star Wars Saga.  But it wasn't called that.  It was just called Star Wars back then.  Then there was the 1980 Release of Empire Strikes Back and the 1983 release of Return of the Jedi.  These movies didn't have episode numbers like they do now.  

Several years later financial difficulties convinced Lucas to go ahead and re-release the original movies which he called Episodes 4,5,6.  This would prepare everyone for the first trilogy he was planning to make - Episodes 1,2,3. Unfortunately, he's never going to make Episodes 7,8,9.  He's too old and there's really no more story to tell.  

Originally, Lucas never thought Star Wars was going to make as much money or generate the following that is has.  He planned it to be the only Star Wars movie he would make.  But when Star Wars was successful, he decided to make Empire, and then finish it off with Jedi.  

If he was going to make all nine, he wouldn't have stopped after Jedi.  He would have continued.  But that's just my opinion.  I could be wrong.

4 and 5 were great, 6 was fair, 1 sucked so bad I demanded my money back (and if I ever see that sell-out George lucas I will take it out of his hyde), 2 was almost OK and 3 sucked the BIG dog. So... if Episode one had been made first Lucas would have gone bankrupt and would be living in a d**n gutter right now instead of a trillion dollar ranch.
