Why does Steve Forbes deserve a shot at the Golden Boy?

I know that Forbes was robbed by the judges against Demetrius Hopkins and Grady Brewer but they aren't elite fighters. Who has Forbes beaten to deserve such a pay day?

  1. Oscar De La Hoya wants to have a tuneup before he faces Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in a rematch later this year in September.  Steve Forbes is the tuneup, and I think Oscar chose him because he has a similar style to Floyd (no where near as good though).  Forbes is a slick boxer with little power and accurate punching and he also uses the shoulder roll defense, similar to how Mayweather fights.  I don't think Forbes will win, but I like that he is getting an opportunity for a big payday against a big star and hopefully he will make the most out of it and at least make it a competitive fight.

  2. oscar wants an easy win.

  3. I totally agree with what your saying, but that's not why he is getting this fight.  He hasn't beaten anyone recently to get such a big fight.  But in boxing people get pig pay days because they match up well with the big name.  Think of it this way Oscar wants to fight Mayweather in September, so they pick a easy opponent one which will hang around for a while so that Oscar gets some quality "training" while still looking good in the fight so people will want to see his next fight. On a side note Forbes was once the IBF Super Featherweight Champion for what thats worth.

  4. bigger question, what does forbes gain if he should beat oscar?????????.  Oscar is doing typical golden boy stuff. He is hand picking fighters just because. Golden Boy hasn't fought a "truly deserved" fight in  4 years since mosely. he didn't deserve hopkins, mayweather, sturm but because of money the fight happen. Forbes is just another mayorga for de la hoya to look decent against. Is their even a belt on the line??? oscar beating him doesn't move his ranking up to mayweather rematch status.
