  1. For proof of pregnancy I believe.  Why would they deny you for low iron levels?  I don't think they would.  FOr low iron levels, they would probably give you more.  They would deny you if you lied about pregnancy or make too much money

  2. It is proof of pregnancy.

  3. They need to check your hemoglobian, and since your iron level was low, you'll probably receive foods high in iron, and they want to help you out, and make sure of that. They will NOT turn you down. WIC loves to help out in every way they can, even if it's not through their service.

  4. WIC is required to prove that you are at-risk for the program.  Anemia means that you have a nutritional risk.  This helps you *qualify* for the program.

The government sponsors the program for families who have nutritional risks.  Low income can be one risk, but anemia sort of shows that you're already suffering from nutritional deficiencies.  It helps the counselor make sure you get approved.

  5. Hemoglobin and iron check. That's it. A letter from the doc stating you are preg and due date is plenty. You shouldn't get turned down. Your foods will just be higher in iron. They have to have proof for their records for reasons to give you higher iron foods. The blood tests they ask for and finger prick test is just to prove it.

  6. Yes they need your blood tests.  Do not worry about the iron being low, they actually prefer that.  WIC is for those with a nutritional need and you obviously have one.  In fact some places, you cannot get on wic unless you are at nutritional risk, such as over weight, underweight, low iron, etc.

  7. They just need a doctors proof of pregnancy.

  8. They want it to know if they need to provide food for you that is higher in iron.  It is also used to make sure that you are pregnant.  Just a urine test is not enough.
