  1. all employers do, in spite of what certain special interest groups claim over 92% of wal-mart employees are covered by health insurance of some kind

  2. Because there's a high turnover the first thirty days of any job.

  3. most companies do.

  4. Fact is, many companies do that to allow for a "probationary" period.  I put that part in quotes because a lot of the time, they just fire people at the end of the "probationary" period so they won't have to give them health insurance, and then replace them with new workers.  The fired employees are then given some excuse as to why they were axed.  It's happened to both me and more people than I care to admit.

  5. Companies do this because they can, not because the need to for administrative reasons.  I've had this waived before when I worked for a small company.  The reason they do this is that if they do this for every new employee they save quite a lot on their health insurance premiums company-wide.

  6. because its an easy place to get your foot in the door, and if they didnt have a waiting period or an incentive for people to stay as employees, that place would have a revolving door. people would just work there until they could have their 100k surgery and then bounce. the employer would incur a VERY high cost if they were just allowing everyone to enroll from day one.

  7. Most companies require a waiting period to make sure the employee is going to stick with the job, the higher the tun over rate the longer the rating period.

Administratively it's real time consuming to add and remove employees when they quit.

  8. trick question . nobody gets health insurance at wal mart . they're just stalling you till you quit or die .
