  1. They don't want the curtains to fade. (Just joking I love WA)

I am from Melbourne and love daylight savings. I live  in Perth now and from what I have heard from locals daylight savings isn't liked over here because:

-farmers don't like it because it mesess with the farming duties.

-city people seem to be annoyed because it does not cool down early enough at night- its prettu hot here most of the time and houses don't cool down till after 9-10pm.

-parents don't like it with smaller children as it makes putting children to bed harder because it is still light outside.

I hope that the people of WA keep daylight savings. It is alot better in terms of being able to do things after work becuase it is still light. And the time difference is better (only 2 hours behind the East Coast). I was here when daylight savings was not taken on- it made it really had to call my family, and anything that had to be done via an east coast operator had to be done before 1.30-2pm in the arvo, which was a bit hard if you were working during the day...

  3. Mainly because it has none of the  benefits that an area or country in temperate regions would enjoy. WA (or more specifically Perth, which is where most of the self-serving unrepresentative swill of politicians live most of the time) is too close to the equator to reap the benefits of much additional summer daylight time. In Perth daylight saving actually means steal it from the morning to give to the afternoon. The result is most obvious just now, as at 7 am it is still close to dark. Whereas Tasmania (or another example, the UK) gets close to eighteen hours of daylight in mid summer.

The additional daylight in the afternoon means that I can't go out for exercise in the morning before work, its dark! Then in the late afternoon I have to wait another hour before its cool enough to go out exercising. I'm denied an hours sleep in the cool of the morning, just so some beach bum can strut his or herself on Scarborough beach!

Its ridiculous and any suggestion that exercise has been increased is just pure statistical manipulation.

  4. Right oh mate, here why,,,I'm in "sunny Queensland",,dipstick,,I'm out on the coal fields,do you think its hot as buggery out here.....mmmm...yeah it is...do you think we would want another hour of sunlight here.....NO we don't,,all we want is the coolness of night and respite from the heat,,you know what you can do with your daylight savings ???

  5. Don't forget Good old Queensland, Proudly stubborn as always.

  6. This has been explained at length many times over the past 25 years.  The brief version is this  - The climate does not suit daylight saving.

Someone may make a remark about curtains fading.  I saw the woman who first said this on TV.  It was a contemptuous put-down to a very stupid TV reporter.  Some people seem to think she was serious.  Well, it takes all kinds.

As a former Queenslander I say "Fu*k 'em, they would not know if a train was up 'em until the people got out and started slamming the doors."

  7. There are various reasons given for not wanting it.(In favor of it isthat the main advantage is doing business with the eastern states).

Personal view is because it's so bloody hot they just want to see that sun set and have a bit of a cool off before bed.

As for good old Qld i had some time in Cairns and fair dinkum every morning at 3am millions of birds and insect things start up, no more sleep, who wants an earlier start

    both states need daylight delay
