  1. Alprazolan ( Xanax) is a tranquillizer. It relaxes the patient. If the individual taking it feels more relaxed, the bp numbers decrease. The opposite is true, if a person is under stress ( not relaxed) the bp goes up.

    Alprazolam lowers Norepinephrine and MHPG levels thus affecting blood pressure levels.
