Why does Yahoo News show less meaningful world-wide news, and more "audience-based" tips than before?

I'm mostly curious about what drives the decision to show less Worldy news, and more audience/individual-focused bits. The reasoning behind the change, in other words.

  1. Evidently because Yahoo is NOT about Informing People about things that really matter, but prefers to indulge people with the nonsense that doesn't. This is called: "Playing to the Ratings..."  :(

  2. they'd rather keep people blind with celebrity trash than reveal the truth to them.

  3. It's those little green pieces of paper they call Money. What else.  Audience-based brings in more of it. Wake up and think PPL

  4. It's all about hits and advertising. Most people would rather read a story about a 44 pound cat than unrest in Georgia (Which most of them probably don't realize is a country). As for myself, I have long since decamped to BBC News Online where the celebrity gossip remains securely in the Entertainment section.

  5. Because it's a free country that's why.

  6. Tell me about it....

    Same goes for AOL.

I think its because both yahoo and aol have the same owner. Therefore, they show mostly the same news.
