Why does Yahoo no longer allow you to appeal unfair deletions?

So the spiteful report monkeys get at you and they make Yahoo delete your Q&A?

You used to be able to appeal against these report monkeys but no more. The report monkeys have been given specially immunity and so you can no longer challenge their deletions.

  1. EDIT 3: Adding that last night's crop of violation emails DO NOT have link AND if you reply using the 'reply' link (as I have done before) it now bounces back!!! This could be the latest thing ~ looks like I'll be using that appeals link myself, lol.

EDIT 2: There are some other users complaining about this in the forum. I wonder if this is deliberate of part of the downtime they had the other day? Very interesting. In the meanwhile, one of the guys has posted a link straight to the appeals form. I've posted it below.

EDIT: I got an email the other day without a link, so went through the reply link, BUT, about two days later I got an email that did have the link, and it was for the same violation notice. I used it and got the standard 'this was indeed a violation' response ...

The system does seem to be out of whack (especially that they keep knocking back my appeals!!! the nerve!!).

They are still saying on the forum and blog that users can appeal. Have you raised it on the forums?

    You can still appeal.

I've never had any success, but people say sometimes questions and answers get reinstated.

    Cheers :-)

  2. This Y!A gig is not a .org or a public service. It is a website kept alive by advertising and a skeleton staff (with a lot of silly unpaid deputies helping out).

Their is no sense in them sweating over deletions, unfair or not. The user base is in the millions and they can afford to lose a few users here and there. The appeals service is like most appeals services, mostly lip service and totally unmanageable.

  3. It's a shame b/c it's a great format but it is now run by the P/c brigade unfortunately.

  4. hmmm...interesting I think it might just be you having this problem.

At least I know this is not a problem I've been experiencing. I was reported three times lastnight on this board and others. I appealed to them all and won them all.

    /shrugs

  5. Because maybe if people had some positive arguments to contribute instead of “should we ban tuna fish” people would listen.

If you have to be candid, be candid with tact and respect; there is no need for every human to think alike by all means. But there should still be respect for your fellow humans; you have a problem you discuss it.

You do not defame for the plain and simple reason you have no ground to stand on. Integrity is lacking in most of the questions I see written by in this section; so make a difference. Instead of trying to create more intolerance.

  6. Well i think their spiteful!!!!!!! I had my question deleted and I know exactly who got it deleted! it really bugs me, and it was a genuine question and i wanted a decent answer!

  7. Yahoo used to be free and open. Ever since the message boards were taken down in 2006, it's been about muzzling open discussion and stifling free speech.

  8. Because they don't care - they probably get annoyed at so many people appealing. But they wouldn't need to appeal if they took away the stupid report button.I think if a person makes a certain number of reports (more than 1 a day) THEY should be banned.

  9. its horrible. they're not monkeys, they're gorrillas. they keep deleting my questions and answers, infact, i'm beginning to think certain people are after me!!!!

  10. makes it tough to spam ppl, huh?  You must alot of hateful things if this happens to ya alot.  too bad for you.  You should get away from your puter more and go play basketball or something

Edit: just saying that Yahoo doesnt mean much, really.  RL means everything, and playing basketball is a good way to spend a day.
