Why does a 2006 honda metropolitan scooter keep cutting out at high speeds?

Question

the scooter runs good at idle but, when i give it throttle it cuts out.i have changed the fuel filter and cleaned the spark plug.

since when does any scooter run at high speeds?what are you talking about,30-40 mph?my god,slow down before the wind blows you right off!!!

it's called a rev limiter. they only allow the engine to rev so high to save it from morons who don't realize scooters aren't sport bikes.

Check the fuel flow to the carb. Maybe it's restricted. The exhaust might be clogging up causing the problem.Good luck.
