Why does a 3-year-old cry when watching Pingu?

As a mother, I told my daughter that it is wrong to steal things as Pingu stole some bread because of greediness in a TV episode. Then Pingu's mother found that and took him to apologise to the shop keeper. I kept telling my daughter not to take people's things without permission - giving a moral lesson at the same time.

back off a bit.  it's a kids show for kids, no wonder she cries if you are being so moralistic.  as you said, pingu's mother took him to apologise......leave it up to the show to give the moral lesson at a kids level of understanding.  maybe she 'took' something or ate a lolly at a shop and is worried by your morals that she will be in big trouble.  tell her it's okay if she by mistake took something as she is only 3 and 3 year olds might not know yet that it is wrong.
