Question:

Why does a butterfly lay its eggs on the bottom of a leaf and the grasshopper under the ground???

My kid has this for her Science homework and even I don't know it so please help? I need 2 reasons besides protecting the eggs from predation?

  1. Well butterflies dont like to get their wings wet and neither do they want to get their eggs wet when it rains.   Grasshoppers and crickets eat the roots of some plants,that is why they are laid underground.


  2. Cos when the butterfly egg hatches, caterpillar can start eating the leaf right away. Sry dunno other reasons for grasshopper or butterfly except the egg protecting.  Doesn't your kid have some books to read these things from?
