Why does a/c like air blows when i put on the cold defroster?

does it mean the a/c is on? someone has told me this before but i am not too sure of it

the AC is on with the defroster. A defroster works by blowing CONDITIONED are on the windows, which means DRY air via the AC, more effective than hot humid hair from the heater....
